In the latest issue of Organic Gardener, our article on Cherries mentions the term “chill hours”.Here we explain what is meant and show a few more pictures of the BP Organic Cherry Farm, in the Adelaide Hills.
In the latest issue of ABC Organic Gardener Magazine (Jan-Feb 2013), our article on growing cherries mentions the “chill hours” that different varieites require.
“Chill hours” refers to the number of hours a year below 7.2°C
You can get an idea of your minimum temperatures by going to the Bureau of Meteorology website www.bom.gov.au/climate/data/index.shtml and selecting temperature, minimum temperature, your town and the nearest weather station.
