Create an edible pond

Setting up a pond with edible plants will provide water for wildlife and help cool your garden in summer.
• Use a bathtub or clamshell-shaped sandpit mould (or similar) for your container. If this is deep, you may need to create different levels with bricks for your edible pond.
• Leave your plants in pots and weigh down with small rocks if needed. You can place clay and pebbles on the bottom to create a medium to nestle pots into.
• In the deepest parts of your edible pond, place larger leaf plants – arrowhead, pickerel, sacred lotus and taro. For shallow areas plant brahmi, kang kong, Lebanese cress, water celery and watercress. Place native fish (from pet stores) in water to keep mossies away and logs and rocks to protect frogs.
