Rosemary

Rosemary grows well in most climate regions but tends to suffer in high humidity, so in these places grow it in a pot and move it under cover during wetter times.

Basil

Think of basil as a “plenty” herb. Give it plenty of sunlight, plenty of nutrients and plenty of water, and you’ll get plenty of basil.

Fennel

Fennel has multiple uses in the kitchen, from the addition of fresh leaves to butter to the use of Florence fennel bulbs in salads. All parts of the plant can be eaten, seeds, stems, leaves, flowers and pollen.

Lavender

Grow Italian or  Spanish lavender as hedges or in pots, adding colour to your garden and flavour to your cooking.

Za’atar

Za’atar is a Middle Eastern oregano (Origanum syriacum) with small woolly, grey-green leaves.

Winter savory

Little known and used, winter savory is a low, shrubby herb that comes into its own in winter with notes of marjoram, thyme and mint.
