					Silverbeet (or Swiss chard) can produce loads of giant paddle-like leaves for up to two years.
								Likes: Compost-rich soil; even moisture; and regular feeding.								
												
													Dislikes: Very hot and humid conditions.							
												
						
						
							When to plant/sow in  zone: 
						
						
						
						
						
						
						
													How to start: Enrich soil with compost and organic fertiliser then sow seed directly in the soil 12mm deep, 20–30cm apart. Keep moist until seed germinate.							
												
						
													How to grow: Keep moist and feed with organic fertiliser every 6 weeks. Shade plants when hot weather arrives.							
												
												
						
													When to harvest: When big enough, harvest the outer leaves by pulling them away rather than cutting.
