Za’atar is a Middle Eastern oregano (Origanum syriacum) with small woolly, grey-green leaves.
Likes:
Well-drained, sandy loam soils.
Dislikes: Being water logged.
When to plant/sow in zone:
How to start:
Direct sow seed in spring by scattering and tamping lightly into soil. Also grows readily from cuttings and divisions.
How to grow:
Water in dry times, or more regularly for potted plants. Cut back annually to keep compact.
When to harvest:
As needed. Dry and store excess.
